Thailand Transit Visa Information

This type of visa will be issued to applicants wishing to enter the Kingdom of Thailand for the following purposes:

• To travel in transit through the Kingdom or at the airport exceeding 12 hours in order to proceed to the country of destination or to re-enter his/her own country (category "TS") (requiring proof of confirmed onward ticket to a Third country)
• To participate in sports activities (sportsmen, sportswomen, etc.) (category "S") (requiring letter from organization concerned and invitation letter from Thailand)
• The person in charge or crew of a conveyance coming to a port, station or area in the Kingdom (category "C") (requiring letter from organization concerned and invitation letter from Thailand)

Requirements for TRANSIT visa:

1. Visa Fee
AUD$35 per entry
Fee to be paid in Australian dollar by Bank cheque, money order or cash. Personal cheque is not accepted. Payment made to ‘Royal Thai Consulate, Hobart’.

If the applicant wants his/her passport returned by post (within Australia) a prepaid self-addressed register-post envelope is required for each passport, otherwise it could be collected at the Consulate.

2. Documents Required
Passport holders of the following countries who hold either permanent or temporary Australian resident visas are required to submit their application at The Royal Thai Embassy in Canberra or at The Royal Thai Consulate-General in Sydney only.

3. Validity of Visa
The validity of a visa is three months.

4. Validity of Stay
Travellers coming to Thailand with this type of visa will be permitted to stay in the Kingdom for a period not exceeding 7 days.

5. Extension of Stay
Those who wish to stay longer can submit the application form at the Office of Immigration Bureau located on Soi Suan Plu, off South Sathorn Road, Bangkok 10120 , Tel (662) 287-3101-10 (or at http://www.police.go.th ). The extension of stay as well as the change of certain types of visa is at the discretion of the Immigration officer.
